New Blog

2 min read

Since leaving Evernote, I moved my note taking system over to Obsidian which uses Markdown as its backbone. I started writing a lot more Markdown as a result of that.

Then, I reworked my personal site to use a framework called Astro. Astro has excellent support for Markdown and gives a lot of control to developers without overwhelming them (cough Gatsby cough).

Now I have almost no excuse to not publish at least some of the things I am writing.

So yep, I am going to start a blog… in 2023…when no one reads blogs anymore. If anything, it will hopefully help battle test my ideas and force me to more fully think things through. Writing by itself is great to clarify your thoughts and ideas, but I’d like to get better about sharing ideas to see if they stand up to scrutiny.

I don’t know how often I will publish but copying and pasting some of my notes and running a “deploy” script is so easy I might as well set this sucker up.

I’ve been thinking about a lot recently, including:

  • Language Learning
  • Health
  • Travel
  • Cooking
  • Career changes
  • How to figure out where to live in a remote work world
  • Coding in general (always)
  • Personal finance
  • Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality
  • Personal data

If I actually get into a solid cadence for posting, I will probably touch on a lot of these things. Lets see what happens.
